Ion Exchange Membrane

While energy storage has been around for a long time, only now its role is becoming crucial for the energy system. With the rise of renewable energy systems, energy storage is needed to maintain the balance between demand and intermittent supply. Our Ion Exchange Membrane helps the renewable energy movement with a cost-effective and innovative product design combined with outstanding environmental & safety properties.

A cation-exchange membrane is a dense polymer film bearing negatively charged functional groups (fixed ions). These functional groups enable a selective transport of positively charged ions (counter ions) while negatively charged coions are rejected.
Moreover, a selective transport of different counterions (e.g. different sizes, valency) can be obtained by tailoring the membrane architecture enabling e.g. size exclusion or charge exclusion of multivalent ions.

Our Cation Exchange Membrane (CEM) was specially designed for installation in Redox Flow Batteries using either organic- or vanadium-based electrolytes. Our patent pending recipe and technology platform allows tailor-made manufacturing according to your specific requirements. Are you interested to learn more? (Contact)
